Obituary for Carlena Cobb Carlena Cobb, the delightful daughter and one of 14 children of William Harrison Bruce and Ellna Raynor Bruce. She was born on September 30, 1929 in Scott, Arkansas. She grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas, educated through the public school system and graduating from Pulaski High School on May 12, 1945.
Carlena met and united in holy matrimony, the love of her life, Freddie Cobb on December 18, 1949. This love blossomed and she later gave birth to two beautiful children Lynda and Clark before she moved to Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a waitress, a housekeeper, finally attending Nutech School of Beauty which gave her the licensed skills to be one of the better Beauticians on the South Side of Chicago. Everyone who knew Carlena knows that she had a passion for styling hair! Mostly, everyone who got up out of her chair, was definitively pleased and happy to show the finished product of Carlena’s working her wonders!

In 1986, she and her husband moved to Decatur, IL attending the Decatur East Congregation there. Her favorite scripture was John 17:3 which says “This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ”. Although this was her favorite Bible verse, this was just one of many Bible scriptures she would share with whoever would listen.
She just loved, loved, loved the ministry! Her love for Jehovah God and neighbor moved her to regular pioneer and work part time as a crossing guard because of her great love for children. She did so until her health began to fail her.
