Carlton George, age 85 of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away January 18, 2019, at Franciscan Health-Rensselaer surrounded by his loving family. Carlton was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 22, 1933, the son of the late Charles and Lillian (Carlton) George. He was raised in Euclid, Ohio, graduating with the class of 1952 from Euclid High School.

He attended college at Ohio University. He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving from 1955 – 1958. Carlton worked for 15 years in sales of small electrical appliances, later becoming a courier for medical services from which he retired after ten years of employment.

On August 24, 1967, in Euclid, Ohio Carlton married Vera Keith and she survives. Carlton and Vera moved to Rensselaer in 2016. He was a member of the Remington Christian Church, the American Legion Post in Willowick, Ohio and was a past Moose Lodge member.

Surviving with his loving wife Vera is a daughter, Paula (Stuart) Manchester of Rensselaer, Indiana and a son, Harvey (Carol) Smith of Wickliff, Ohio, along with seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a brother, Chuck George of Sacramento, California and three nephews. Memorial services will be held at the Remington Christian Church on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. EST with Pastor Randy Sparks officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
