Carlton’s Obituary Mr. William “Carlton” Warwick, age 68, passed peacefully in his sleep on January 27, 2019. He was born in Robeson County, NC on January 17, 1951 to the late William Gillespie Warwick, Jr. and the late Myrlene Britt Warwick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Jesse Carlton Warwick.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his daughter, Ashleigh Marie Warwick of Lumberton; a sister, Mary Lois Overman of Springfield, VA; two brothers, Charles Quinn Warwick of Little River, SC and Gary Lynn Warwick of Lumberton; a granddaughter, Alexandria Paige Bullard; three nieces, Michelle, Melissa and Rebecca and two nephews, Billy and Sean. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 5:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tony Stevens officiating.

A time of visitation will follow the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Carlton, or “Wick,” or “C.W.,” or “C”, great up in Lumberton, but his influence and love was widespread. Self taught guitar at an early age, music became Carlton’s world.

Music was his life! It consumed him and his talents were quickly noticed by anyone that knew him, young and old. Equally at home, on piano or guitar, his gift was borderline genius, but 100% sublime.

His rhythmic pulsating on piano keys moved a song like a powerful freight train, yet his melodies could sooth you like a summer breeze and caress your very soul! Born a humble person from God-fearing parents, Carlton loved sharing his gift of music with anyone and whatever you brought to the table, he made it sound better. He just did!

His understandings of vocal harmonies and chord inversions were unmatched. Every time he played music, his soul went right to the Maker and he was locked in that zone. His originality, his touch, his very soul, brought out a sheer joy to everyone that was fortunate to hear him.

Carlton, we will forever miss your smile, that devilish twinkle in your eyes, your absurd wit, your charm, your love and your music. RIP Mr. Music!
