GETTER, Carol A. (Beeler) Age 85, of Farmersville, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018. She was born June 4, 1933 in Dayton, to the late Edwin and Edith Beeler. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mark H. Getter.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Cindy) Getter, Diane (Wesley) Proshek, and David (Pam) Getter; grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren, Benjamin, Caitlin, Anna, Ellen, Regina, Daniel, Emily, and Chris; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Maleski; aunt, Gloria… Read More » Seimer; and many more family and friends. She was a life-long Catholic, and in her younger years was a legal secretary and loved hiking and camping, especially in Hocking Hills. Bagels, Oreos, and frozen York Peppermint Patties.

Grandma loved to bring these to spoil our sweet tooth when she came to visit and they are still some of my favorites. She wasn’t ordinary, so leave it to her to go out on the 4th of July with a boom. She was active and loved to spoil us.

She was stubborn and independent. Grandma coming to visit and take us on adventures will forever be some of the highlights of my childhood. I can remember getting one-on-one time with her down in Hocking Hills or her taking one or two of us to stay with her at a hotel when she came up to visit, her paying for us to take gymnastics, hiking, zoo, park visits, garage saleing and antique shopping, and so much more.

Her favorite food was ice cream and she always had some to share. We’d make family trips down to visit her and we’d go hiking in the woods, camp out in the shelter house, and she always had all the best Disney movies on VHS for us to watch. I loved the cedar and mothball smells of the shelter house and sounds of the woods, with the insects chirping will always make me think of her.

Colbey and I’s wedding was one of the last times she was able to get out before she got sick and I’m so thankful and blessed she came and had fun, refilling her wine glass a few times. She’d been sick for a long time and not herself, so it brings peace knowing she’s no longer in pain. My heart still hurts though.

Rest In Peace Grandma Getter. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 10AM to 12PM at ROGERS’ FUNERAL HOMES, New Lebanon. A memorial service will begin at 12PM with Father Gene Vonderhaar presiding.

Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.
