Obituary for Carol Dressel Carol A. Dressel, nee Kombrink, 78, of O’Fallon, IL, born Saturday, December 16, 1939 in O’Fallon, IL, passed peacefully at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL on Sunday, June 24, 2018. Carol worked for O’Fallon Township as a clerk and retired in 2002. She was a member of O’Fallon United Church of Christ in O’Fallon, IL.

Those who knew Carol, knew how passionate she was about her family, especially her grandchildren. Carol loved being a grandmother and took great pride in her nana responsibilities. She enjoyed taking scenic drives on Sunday mornings and never missed a chance to play cards, especially if it was euchre or pinnacle.

Carol looked forward to cheering on her St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and never missed a game on the television. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Frieda Kombrink, nee Ahring; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Oliver Dressel; daughter, Connie Barnes; brother, Vernon Kombrink; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dressel; and brother-in-law, Lester Dressel. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Harvey Dressel; daughters, Cathy (Tim) Gholson of San Antonio, TX, Carla (Chris) Hall of Troy, IL; grandchildren, Jessica (Maurice) Alston, Shayne (Kayla Clark) Gholson, Cameron Barnes, Abigail Hall, Lauren Hall, Mackenzie Hall; great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley (Stephanie) Kombrink; many nieces, nephews, cousins; her cat and furry companion, Cody.

Funeral will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Schildknecht Funeral Home with Rev. Martha Thierheimer officiating. Private burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home.
