In Loving Memory Carol C. Smelser December 27, 1927 – June 26, 2018 Carol Smelser, age 90, of Oregon City passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 26, 2018. Carol was born to Edward & Eva Brown in Sioux County, Iowa. In 1941 the family moved to a farm in Canby, Oregon, then to Oregon City.

She graduated from Oregon City High School before marrying Richard Smelser in 1946. She raised 8 children, was an avid horsewoman, showing her horse, Burke, and teaching Horse 4H. She loved the farm life, her dogs and cats, plus playing her guitar, singing on the radio in her youth and a country band in her later years.

Carol was also on a Milwaukie Bowling team most of her adult life. She and Richard loved country dancing and playing pinochle with friends. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1999 and survived by their 8 children, Charlotte Cook, Steve Smelser, Shirley Walton, Les Smelser, Judy Pettit, Dale Smelser, Sandy Force & Debbie White; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and her brother, Edward Brown of Medford, Oregon.

A service was held at Willamette National Cemetery July 5, 2018.
