Obituary for Carol G Hoke A heart of gold stopped beating, two willing hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Carol G. Hoke, 77, of Nichols, passed away on Oct. 15, 2018 following a period of declining health.

Carol is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Timothy and Amy Hoke, George and Leslie Hoke; her cherished grandchildren Shaun and Emily Hoke, Brittany and Colin Mayner, Whitney and Taylor Saulsbury, Nathan Hoke; her beloved great-grandchildren: Jayce Saulsbury, Leighton A. and Stella Hoke, Isaac R. Mayner and Dallas C. Mayner. Also surviving are her brother Gene Grange (Shirley Allen), brother-in-law, Donald E. Hoke and several nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her parents George D. and Loretta C. (Judge) Granger, her sister Edna Babcock and on Sept 6 2017, her beloved husband of 56 years, Merlin ‘Mert’ Hoke.

Carol devoted her life to her family. Her selfless care of her family as well as so many others, her supportive and encouraging demeanor together with her endless patience and positive attitude will long be remembered. Her grandchildren remember with love and affection the twice daily cookie and ‘coffee’ breaks.

Carol graduated from Owego Free Academy in 1959 and earned her associate degree in gerontology. Carol was a dedicated employee of the Tioga County Office of the Aging, a talented artist and enjoyed ‘her’ cardinals and flowers. Abiding with her wishes, there will be no services at this time.
