Carol’s Obituary Carol J. Benschneider, 85, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Wednesday morning, January 16, 2019 at Coventry Meadows. She was born on July 31, 1933 in Fort Wayne to Herman and Alice (May) Sorg. She married Arnold Benschneider on January 8, 1977 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 1992.

Carol was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel in Fort Wayne and a member of the American Legion Post #296 Auxiliary in Fort Wayne. She graduated from Hoagland High School in 1951. Carol was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office.

She had also worked at Algier Catering in Fort Wayne and was a cook at the American Legion Post #296 and the VFW Post #10006 in Fort Wayne. Carol enjoyed quilting, tending to her flowers, and traveling across America. She is survived by three daughters, Mary (Lonnie) Lainhart of Fort Wayne, Joanne Pielemeier of New Haven, & Lorie (Robin) Gingerich of Ossian; son, DeWayne (Dalene) Coleman of Bluffton; four brothers, Donald Sorg, Maurice Sorg, & Gerald (Barb) Sorg all of Fort Wayne & Kenneth (Joan) Sorg of Grapevine, TX; nine grandchildren, Molly Wirt, Alice Moreno, Sara Moreno, William Moreno, Brad Jeffrey, David Jeffrey, Kate Highlen, Alex Babb, & Natalie Haynes; & 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents & her daughter, Linda Moreno. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Harold Klinker officiating. Burial will follow at Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne.

Family & friends will be received from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Preferred memorials are to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home or Alzheimer’s Research.
