OBITUARY Carol J Harlin July 21, 1948 – December 1, 2018 Carol Jean Harlin; age 70 of Gladstone, Mo. ; passed away the evening of December 1, 2018, in Kansas City, Mo. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Richard; mother and father, Eva (Fletcher) and Horace Parker; as well as her oldest son James Charles (McGinnis) Harlin.

Carol is survived by her two sons: Jeff Harlin and wife Amy of Smithville, Mo. ; and Todd Harlin and wife April of Kansas City, Mo. Carol leaves behind six grandchildren that she simply adored with all of her heart: Nicholas, age 15; Sleiman, 14; Alicia, 11; Eden, 9; Ava, 8; and Dorsey, 7; in addition to many nieces and nephews.

Carol is lovingly remembered by her sister Janet (Parker), and her husband Ramon Williams of Independence, Mo. ; and her brother, Jim Trainer and wife Pat of Odessa, Mo. Carol was also cherished and loved by her extended family, the McGinnis’s of Richmond, Mo.

; including her sister Beth (McGinnis) Hughes and husband Ed; and brother Phillip McGinnis and wife Judy. Carol was born in Lexington, Mo. , July 21, 1948.

She graduated from Lexington High School in 1966. After being widowed at a young age, Carol met Richard Harlin and the two were married on September 26, 1968. After starting their life together in Henrietta, Mo.

and Olathe, Kan. ; Carol and Richard, along with their sons, settled and lived the majority of their years in Richmond, Mo. The family were active members of Richmond Christian Chapel.

Carol was a stay-at-home mother to her sons and as they matured, she ventured into the workforce. Two of her favorite positions were as a paraprofessional for special needs students in the Richmond School District, and as a human res employment representative at Harrah’s Casino. After retiring from Harrah’s in 2004, Carol’s focus was on spending time with Richard and her grandchildren.

Carol was a strong advocate for children spending lots of time volunteering and organizing efforts for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Richmond Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), Awana Ministries for Children and many other activities. Carol is a devoted Christian and was an active member in her church communities in Richmond and Kansas City, at Tower View Baptist.
