Obituary for Carol Jean Swayze Carol Jean Swayze, age 74, of Wolcott, Indiana passed away on April 11, 2018 at I. U. Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello, Indiana. Carol was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on May 28, 1943, the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Garlach) Steffel. A graduate of Hebron (Indiana) High School, Carol could be found enjoying the company of a good book, or lovingly tending her flowers and garden.

She enjoyed helping people, golfing and was self employed as a housekeeper. Carol was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington, Indiana. She was a devoted member who worked within the church in whatever capacity was needed.

Carol was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and loved her church family. Her marriage was in Rensselaer, Indiana to Richard “Dick” Swayze who survives, along with their son, Richard Swayze, Jr. of Indianapolis, two sisters, Betty Turner of Valparaiso, IN and Laura Brown of Hebron, IN and a brother, Paul Steffel of Michigan. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Josephine and seven brothers and sisters.

Friends will be received by the family at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. (EDT). A Rosary will be said at 9:00 A.M.. Funeral Mass for Carol will follow on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. (EDT) with Father Paul Hudson officiating.

Burial will be at the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rensselaer, Indiana. At the suggestion of the family memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Remington, Indiana. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Carol Jean Swayze please visit our Sympathy Store.
