Obituary for Carol Smith Carol Smith February 19, 1940-December 3, 2018 Carol Smith, 78, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday December 3, 2018, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born February 19, 1940, in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Harold Laughrey and Gabrielle (Stassel) Laughrey. Carol was the treasurer of the trustees committee for Door Village United Methodist Church and supported the New Day Foundation.

She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, holiday Hallmark movies, and cooking shows. She loved to cook and do word searches, but most of all she loved her granddogs. She is survived by her two sons, Jeff (Kristen) Smith of Saint Petersburg, FL and Jay (Michelle) Smith of Fishers, IN; four granddogs, Creanie, Penny, Allie, and Olie.

Carol was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother, Doug Laughrey. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave. , La Porte, Indiana.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 8, 2018, from 9:00 am till 10:00 am at Door Village United Methodist Church, 3502 West Joliet Road LaPorte, Indiana 46350. A life celebration will follow at 10:00 am with Rev. Robert Denney officiating.

Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Day Foundation, P.O. Box 13, La Porte, IN 46350. Online condolences may be made at www.
