Obituary for Carol Sue Hopkins Carol Sue Hopkins, 79, of Independence, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8:00pm Wednesday, January 9th and a service at 10:00am Thursday, January 10th, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Inurnment will follow at Mound Grove Cemetery.

Carol Sue was born February 25, 1939, to Nolan and Thelma (Todd) Burney. She graduated from Mountain Grove High School in Mountain Grove, MO. Carol Sue went on to work in real estate for many years before becoming a secretary for the state government.

She loved to go camping with her family and dear friends, later becoming snowbirds to Arizona with Bob. She loved to have fun, laugh and play games, but most of all, she loved her family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Bob Hopkins, in 2013; her son, Randy Hopkins in 2015; her parents and her sister Mary Skinner and brother-in-law, John Skinner.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Robert) Osborne, grandchildren, Jamie (Chad) Neal and Seth Osborne, great-grandchild, Lola Neal; brother, Don (Jan) Burney; as well as, many, many special friends, extended family and camping buddies.
