OBITUARY Carole A. Carr August 4, 1941 – October 31, 2018 Play Tribute Movie CAROLE A. CARR. On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, Carole A. Carr, loving wife of David D. Carr, passed away at age 77. Carole was born on August 4, 1941 in Cleveland, OH to Frank and Annie Kuznik.

Carole was a prominent philanthropist in Northeastern Ohio. Her dedication and commitment to education, healthcare and the arts were transformative. Her leadership of the Five Star Sensation raised more than $20 million to support patient care, research and supportive programs and services at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center.

Carole was a lifetime trustee at Gilmour Academy, where she and her husband, David, helped establish the endowment and scholarship program. She was a trustee at Cuyahoga Community College, where she received an honorary degree in 2015. Her support of Playhouse Square spanned numerous decades and hundreds of performances.

Carole was also an ardent supporter of Providence House and was honored for her vision and promise to provide shelter and love for babies and children in crisis. In addition, she served on the board of The Cleveland Ballet. Carole and David were married in June of 1982.

Their home was the scene of numerous gatherings and holiday celebrations, and the couple was known for the festivities around David’s favorite celebration, the 4th of July! Carole cherished her family – Cathy Merckens, David M. Carr (Angela), grandchildren Samantha and Charlotte Merckens, Joseph, Justin, and Michael Carr, and great-grandson James. She was a beloved “Auntie,” cousin and friend of many.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Our Lady Chapel at Gilmour Academy (34001 Cedar Road, Gates Mills, OH) at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Annie Kuznik Scholarship at Gilmour Academy, 34001 Cedar Road, Gates Mills, OH 44040. Interment Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at THE DiCICCO AND SONS FUNERAL HOME 5975 MAYFIELD RD.
