Obituary for Mrs. Carolyn Faye Lindsey Caroline’s Life Story (In her own words) In July, 1947 Marion Appling and Lillian Flowers were united in holy matrimony. To this union six children were born. On Monday, November 23, 1953, child #3 was born in an ambulance enroute to Fort Sam Houston Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Her birth name is Carolyn Faye Appling. Carolyn lived at 711 Alabama Street in San Antonio until the age of 6. The family then moved to Fort Sill, OK where she attended the first and second grade at Post Elementary School.

From grade third to sixth grade she attended Dunbar Elementary School in Lawton, OK. She attended Tomlinson Jr. High and graduated from Lawton High School in 1972. She took a few courses at Cameron University and earned a clerk typist certificate from Great Plains Vocational School.

Carolyn was baptized at an early age by Rev. N. H. Jones, New Zion Baptist Church. Before moving to Houston, Texas in 1976 she worked for the City of Lawton as a Librarian and a Secretary for the Juvenile/Detective Divisions at Lawton Police Department.

In Houston she worked for Memorial-Hermann Hospital, Shell Oil Company and BMC Software. In May, 2014 she got the best job of her life, retirement! She is survived by family she knew loved her unconditionally and will miss her dearly: Vernon Broomfield, Lillian Appling of Houston, TX; Charles Appling, Lawton, OK; Debra and Randle Cooper, OKC; Terri and Alan King, Schertz, TX; Dwayne and Tremia Appling, OKC.

Last, but not least, her nieces and nephews who brought so much joy to her life in their own special way: Tiffany Cooper, OKC; Randle (J.R.) Cooper Jr., OKC; Alan II (A.D.) and Adah King, San Antonio, TX, Ashlei King and Randall Reese, Jacksonville, AR; Sheldon Rundel, OKC; grand nieces/nephews: EricKai Cooper, Peyton Baker, OKC and Little Raspberry, San Antonio, TX. Those gone before her: Marion Appling, Joyce Appling, and beloved great nephew, Joshua Alexander Cooper (gone too soon). I’m at peace!

Enjoy life to the fullest! Until we see each other again, just remember that I love each of you! Don’t forget me.
