Carolyn Jean McCarty, 70 of Blooming Grove, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Waxahachie. She was born March 12, 1949 in Dallas to William e. Johnson and Mary J. Moore Johnson. She was a member of Blooming Grove Church of Christ.

Carolyn graduated from Duncanville High School in 1967 where she was also a member of the select choir. She enjoyed spending time outside gardening and landscaping. She also loved going to church and worship.

She is preceded in death by her son Michael McCarty and her father William Johnson. She is survived by her mother, Mary Moore Farrell; children Deedra Stafford and husband Wendell, James McCarty and wife Catherine. grandchildren, Lauren, Emily and Lucas Stafford, James Russell Jr and Jessie David McCarty.

Sisters and brother, Sherry Rouw and husband Paul, Bill Johnson and wife Carol, Dolores Bess and husband Jimmy, Debra Carey. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Visitation will be 9am-5pm Monday, May 6, 2019 and with family 1pm-2pm Tuesday, May 7, 2019.

Funeral service will be 2pm Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dresden Cemetery. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Carolyn Jean McCarty please visit our Sympathy Store.
