After ninety six incredibly blessed years on this earth, Carrie Abrams made her transition to be with our LORD and Savior on November 14, 2018 in her daughter’s home. Born June 4, 1922 in Burrsville, MD. , to the late Beatrice Mackey, Carrie grew up in Kent County, DE attending the Paul Lawrence Dunbar School.

When younger she attended MF Chase and the Star Hill AME Church both located in Star Hill Delaware and was a current member of First Pilgrim Baptist Church in Camden. She held a variety of employment positions, including building aircraft parts at Pratt & Whitney in the state of CT, producing of ammunition in Elkton, MD, canning vegetables at Libby’s Cannery, domestic engineering at Dover Air Force Base where she retired after twenty five years and finalizing employment at eighty five years of age after twenty three years with the Foster Grandparent Program. A most satisfying position though, being a church Mother at First Pilgrim Baptist, was cherished.

Throughout her life Carrie received recognition and awards for her exemplary performance both at church receiving an AGAPE award from the IMA of Dover and from work by Senator Carper and former Governor Ruth Ann Minner when with the Intensive Learning Center. Mother Abrams was loved and respected by many, always willing to lend a helping hand no matter what the situation. Mother Carrie Abrams was preceded in death by former husband, Samuel Abrams and her beloved Benson family Nathaniel and Annie Benson including Charles, David, Helen Joshua, and Nathaniel, Jr. as well as in-laws from the Abrams family.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Dorphine (Vicente Rojas) of DE; Grandchildren, Joshwyn (Erin Abrams) of VA, Carrye (Gary Cason) of DE and (2) great grandchildren, Davon Cason and Lia Abrams. Additionally, Mother Abrams helped in the raising of nephews, Ferris and William of CA; Jerome of Wilmington and Walter of Camden. She has a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Surrounded with HIS blessings, Carrie was graced with a well lived life filled with love, caring, and thanksgiving. She will be always thought of and dearly missed remaining in the hearts of many. A funeral service will be Noon Saturday, November 24, 2018 at First Pilgrim Baptist Church, 6 Miles Lane, Camden, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until Noon on Saturday.
