Cassie “Ann” Gillentine August 18, 1930 – December 24, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Tupelo – Cassie Ann Gillentine, 88, died Monday, December 24, 2018 at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Tupelo. She was born on August 18, 1930 to James Malcolm and Jeanette Killough Hudnall in New Albany. She married the love of her life, the late W.A. “Tode” Gillentine.

Mrs. Ann had a great career with Reed’s Department Store in downtown Tupelo. She was Cosmetics Department Manager, then worked the ladies department until her recent retirement just six months ago after fifty years of service. She loved her job and considered her coworkers her family.

Mrs. Ann was an exceptional cook and quite the gardener who possessed a “green thumb” envied by many. She was a sweet soul with a giving heart who loved sharing her flowers and garden vegetables with friends and family. Mrs. Ann was known for her beautiful flower arrangements displayed outside Reed’s Department Store.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and her beloved cats. Prior to her failing health, Mrs. Ann attended Wildwood Baptist Church in Tupelo. Survivors include her son, Al Gillentine of Tupelo and several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. “Tode” Gillentine; her parents, James Malcolm and Jeanette Killough Hudnall; and two sisters, Marie Burleson and Virginia Rose. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo. Services honoring her life will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro.

Lewis Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Priceville Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be special friends Tammy Malone, Debbie Long, Steve Stanford, Chanda Long Dillard, Tommy Walters, Mike Smith, Tyler Kidd, Clark Tucker, Members of the Adult Sunday School Class at Auburn Baptist Church, Jack Reed, Jr. and her coworkers at Reed’s Department Store.
