Obituary for Mrs. Catherine “Cappie” Baskin Catherine “Cappie” Gardner Baskin passed away on the evening of Friday September 14, 2018 at the age of 76. She is predeceased by her parents, Richard Jefferson Gardner and Catherine Lucas Gardner, and her husband, Emsley Pittman Baskin. Cappie is survived by her sister Linda Gardner Stover, her brother Richard Gardner and his wife Marie Gardner, her son Emsley Pittman Baskin Jr. and his wife Janice Wilson Baskin, and her daughter Kim Baskin Pridgeon and her husband Michael Dwight Pridgeon along with her six granddaughters.

Cappie was born in Bishopville, SC on December 12, 1941. She graduated from Bishopville High School in 1960 and got married the 28th of August in Bishopville, SC. She then worked at Jacks photography in the 1970s and Collins Models in the 1980s both in Columbia.

At Collins, she taught modeling classes to young girls and loved it. She also enjoyed runway and TV modeling and won third place for the Mrs. South Carolina Pageant. Cappie enjoyed gardening, watching birds, doing puzzles, listening to music, taking care of her puppy Angel, Gamecock football and spending time with friends and family.

The visitation will be held at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home, 200 W. Church St. Bishopville, SC on Tuesday September 18, 2018 from 1-2pm. Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 115 West Church Street. Bishopville, SC (right across from the funeral Home) on the same day at 2:30pm with Pastor Susanne Walker and Rev.

Mark Phillips officiating. Burial Service to follow at McBee Cemetery in McBee, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation and Bethlehem UMC of Bishopville, SC.
