Obituary for Catherine “Cathy” Rose Wheeler Catherine “Cathy” Rose Wheeler Catherine “Cathy” Rose Wheeler, 62, of Deweyville, Texas, passed away on July 15, 2018, in Port Arthur, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Bickham and Reverend Keating.

Burial will follow at Waldrep Cemetery in Orange County, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Born in Clayton, New Mexico, on April 30, 1956, she was the daughter of Jose B. Sandoval and Helen (Chavez) Sandoval.

Cathy worked for Zachry Construction, Fish Construction, and Bechtel Construction. She was a member of Deweyville Baptist Church and was a very strong Christian woman. Cathy loved all sports; her favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Astros, and the Texas Longhorns.

Her kids and grandkids were her life. She also loved animals. Cathy was a very strong lady, a very giving person, and a hard worker.

She worked with a ruptured appendix for two weeks, and also worked until the day before she went into the hospital for her heart. Cathy’s favorite movie was Pretty Woman. She also loved watching crime story movies, Law and Order, and many, many others.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Helen Sandoval; her brother, Joey Sandoval; her siblings, Sophie Martinez , Benny Martinez, and Christina Maxwell; her son, Justin B. West; and her puppy, Dixie Reba Wheeler. She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years and 2 and a half months, Tommy G. Wheeler, Jr. of Deweyville; her children, Jason West, Jeremy West and spouse Mandi Erler, Amber Colleen McKibbin and spouse Yancy McKibbin, Heather Nichole Wheeler and spouse David Lee Rollinson, and Daisy and Sprite Wheeler, 2 of the meanest Chi-Weenie dogs ever; her grandchildren, Matthew West, Charli West, Yancy Dillan McKibbin, Gavyn Gene McKibbin, and Colin Leonard McKibbin; her siblings, Janie Witt and spouse Danny, and Nick Martinez; her brother-in-law, Larry Maxwell; her nieces and nephews, Christopher Maxwell, Lyla Lynn, Joseph Maxwell, Tina Strickland, and Kristi Kerzee; and many other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason West, Jeremy West, Joey Maxwell, Howard Bailey, Connor Kerzee, and Grayson Kerzee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to any local food banks, the Humane Society, or the Special Olympics.
