Prologue Catherine Evelyn Jackson also known as “CJ” was a woman of ‘Great Price’ (Proverbs 31) who was loved, admired and respected by many. She loved the Lord and prayed to receive Him as her Savior and Lord to rule over her life at an early age. Catherine was passionate in praying daily for the salvation of her children whom she loved dearly.

But not only them but the whole world. She also loved the children of her extended family members and provided a safehouse for any child in need of a home. Catherine was an example of single-minded devotion to Christ in her concern for others.

She served the Lord at her first church, Christ Missionary Baptist Church of Pittsburgh, under the leadership of Pastor Moden. She serviced as deaconess, missionary, usher, street evangelist, Superintendent of Sunday School and wherever needed. Chapter 1 Catherine was born January 1, 1936 and cherished her childhood in Pittsburgh, PA.

She was the third child of Edward G. and Elizabeth Williams. She loved school and was an honor student. She also participated in numerous activities such as cheerleading, girl scouts, young teens and Bible Study.

Catherine enjoyed her interaction with her two brothers and four sisters. She loved music and took piano lessons but remained average. She and her siblings hiked to pick apples and berries.

She used to have variety shows at night, when lights were supposed to be out. She was responsible for tutoring her siblings and keeping them in check. But it was all fun.

Chapter 2 To Catherine the University of Pittsburgh was the beacon of her educational life. Her love for Christ and concern for others led her to seek out nursing as a profession. She was grateful to her friend for encouraging her to fulfill her dream.

She graduated with honors to receive her BSN. She finishes the Nursing Sorority Chi Eta Phi. After graduation she was employed at St. Francis Trauma Center for twenty-seven years.

She held position of Cardiac Intensive Care Supervisor. Chapter 3 Catherine married Ernest Jackson after graduating high school. The marriage ending in divorce, but they remained on good terms.

Three daughters came from that union, Darlene, Darcell and Dorena. Chapter 4 Catherine moved to Delaware and worked part time for the Bay Health System. She also volunteered with Delaware Hospice in Milford, DE.

She joined Faith Hope and Love Christian Fellowship under Bishop Ralph R. Harmon. She continued to grow under his leadership. She had to return to Pittsburgh after three years to care for her sick daughter.

Upon her return to Pittsburgh she joined Second Baptist Church in Penn Hills, PA under the leadership of Pastor McMahon L. Gray and continued to grow in the Lord. Epilogue Catherine’s health declined to the point where she was no longer capable of living independently. She returned to Delaware to be cared for by her sister and niece under the direction of the Lord.

She spent the last ten months enjoying her life by participating in activities that were not available to her before. Catherine transitioned into glory on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 9 p.m. Celebrating her life and honoring her legacy are her children: Darlene Boyd (Anthony), Darcell Flint and Dorene Jackson. Grandchildren Dorena Perkins(spouse), David Jeffries, Latonya, Nateefa Jones and Latoya Williams.

Sisters Loretta Quarles and Lula Long. Niece Denise Page (Anthony) and Nephew Harold Berry (Constance), great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, church families and many friends. Personal Statement Catherine’s Legacy I have finished what the Lord God has called me to do.

I have served my purpose to the best of my ability. I leave a legacy through my walk of faith that points to the wonderful life remembered and also points forward in hope to an amazing celebration that is to come. A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Faith, Hope and Love Christian Fellowship, 218 N. Rehoboth Boulevard, Milford, DE 19963 where there will be a viewing from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday.
