Catherine M Clanahan Mullins , November 17, 1925 — December 15, 2018

CATHERINE McCLANAHAN (CROCKETT) MULLINS, 93 years of age of Vansant, VA, gained her angel wings on December 15, 2018 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born in a train camp car on November 17, 1925 while her father worked for Ritter Lumber Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Perry and Clarice (Crockett) McClanahan.

She enjoyed working, being with her family, gardening, making candy and fried pies, and quilts for her family and friends. She has been a member of the Vansant Presbyterian Church since 1952. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of VPC.

She was a strong, generous, loving, and independent mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will greatly be missed. Those left to cherish her memory include her son & daughter-in-law (caregivers), Mike & Connie Mullins of Vansant, VA; 1-Daughter: Becky Hager of Tennessee; 1-Granddaughter and Grandson-in-Law: Courtney and Darren Suthers of Rural Retreat, VA; 1-Great-Granddaughter: Carley Suthers of Rural Retreat, VA. Also, survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services for CATHERINE McCLANAHAN (CROCKETT) MULLINS will be conducted Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Stacy officiating with mausoleum services Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Claypool Hill, VA. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Active Pallbearers will be Darren Suthers and Elders & Members of Vansant Presbyterian Church.

Since she loved Christmas so much and always loved buying for underprivileged children in her community, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Vansant Presbyterian Church Christmas Children’s Fund, P.O.
