OBITUARY Celestia Cooley February 9, 1952 – August 30, 2018 Celestia Cooley, 66, of Fort Smith, formerly of New Orleans, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at her home. She was born February 9, 1952 in New Orleans to the late William and Pleasant Dyer. She was a retired case manager for the State of Louisiana, and a member of Pleasant Hills Baptist Church in New Orleans.

She was a 1970 graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School and a graduate of Xavier University. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Cooley, and a son, Thurman Cooley II. She is survived by a daughter, Nidjah “Nikkie” Dyer of Fort Smith; two brothers, Irving “Punchy” Williams of Las Vegas, and Sgt.

Arnold Ray Dyer of San Antonio; and eleven grandchildren, Mikai Williams, Jacobi Dyer, Thurman Cooley III, Trenton Cooley, Asia Davis, Aniyah Davis, Adrianna Davis, Aliya Henry, Ariel Reed, Akeion Reed, and Malyah Reed. Interment will be at Providence Memorial Park in Metairie, LA under the direction of Rhodes Funeral Home of New Orleans. Local arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
