Celestine “Sally” Chapek, 93, of Bruno passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Butler County Health Care Center. Memorials can be directed towards St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or Family Wishes. Celestine Ann Chapek known as Sally Chapek was born to Frank and Mary (Stava) Skoda on November 7, 1925.

She was the oldest of 7 children born on a farm south of Brainard. When she was 6 years old they moved south of Bruno. She went to country school, District 61 until the 8th grade.

Sally was united in marriage to Adolph B. Chapek, June 12, 1945 in Bruno at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. 3 children were born to this union. She worked at JW Rejda Grocery Store in Bruno and Barinard, Ray’s Hilltop Cafe, and for over 30 years at Henningsen Foods in David City.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and PCCW. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and you couldn’t leave her house without coffee and a kolache. Sally is survived by her daughter Kathleen Ptacek of Bruno; Daughters-in-law Glenna Chapek and Gail Chapek both of David City; Brother Ronald Skoda of Lincoln; Sister Geraldine Turek of Lincoln; 11 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Adolph in 1985, sons Adrian Chapek in 1986 and Kenneth Chapek in March 2019, son-in-law Louie Ptacek and granddaughter Tami Leiting-Hall.
