Obituary HER SMILE WAS HER SIGNATURE Charlene (Sherry) Pike Peck, 76 passed away on May 1, 2019 after a courageous battle incident to cancer. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a beautiful woman, an artist, an expert gardener, loved sewing, animals and all things bright and beautiful.
Sherry was born January 7, 1943 in Brigham City, Utah, daughter of John and Zella Pike. She married Jack Melvin Peck September 26, 1959 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple February 17, 1961 Sherry lived life at its fullest.
She attended the University of Utah where she majored in art. She was the president of the local Parent Teachers Association during the time her children were growing. She love horses and passed that love to others by teaching riding techniques in the discipline of dressage.
Her “Little Red School House” indoor riding arena was always busy with students, friends and neighbors. She brought nobility to the term wife and mother. Sherry kept a spotlessly clean house and was always sewing baby clothes for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She gave hugs and smiles to everyone and the members of her ward were the recipients of her love and good humor. As a mother of four daughters and a son, Sherry loved and prayed for them every day of her life. Sherry loved people and gave service to many.
During her illness she struggled that she could not do more for the people she loved so dearly. Her greatest love was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Sherry served as Stake Young Women’s President, Gospel Doctrine teacher and was an expert in genealogy.
Sherry and her husband Jack also served together as missionaries for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for three years as Mission President and wife in the Philippines Manila Mission. Following this mission she and her husband served two years as missionaries in the Missionary Department at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City. Upon completion of this mission they returned again to their beloved Philippine Islands to serve two additional years as Missionary Training Center (MTC) President and wife.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack, their children: Michelle Thompson, JoAnn (Jeff) Durfee, Dawn (Paul) Goldman and Jack (Steffanie) Peck. She also is blessed with 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Sherry was preceded in death by daughter Sandee.
The family would like to thank Ashby Home Health and Hospice and their dedicated staff. We appreciate all of their support. Funeral Services will be held at South Jordan Second Ward, Monday May 6th at 1:00 pm, 2450 West 10400 South, South Jordan, Utah.
