Charles Benjamin Marsella, 76, husband of Judy Lloyd Marsella, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at home in Seneca. In September, our beloved Ben was diagnosed with Secondary Melanoma Brain Cancer. Born September 24, 1942, in Kingstree, South Carolina, Ben was the son of the late Charles Joseph “Chief” Marsella and the late Jane Horton Marsella.

Ben graduated from Clemson University in 1964, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and retired from Shell Oil Company… Read More » after 31 years. Well-known in his business, Ben continued to work for another twenty years. As all who loved Ben know, whether you found him on the golf course, tailgating, or watching at home, Ben could almost always be found in his Clemson orange.

Ben is survived by his wife, Judy Lloyd Marsella, son Joe Marsella and wife Kristen Hill (Cumming, GA), daughter Karen Marsella Young and husband Scott (Greensboro, NC), and their mother, Nancy Wood Marsella (Cayce, SC), as well as stepdaughter Christi Williams Hildebrand and husband Clay (Newnan, GA), and stepson Andy Williams and wife Tara Milstein (Lantana, FL). Ben was blessed with four grandchildren with one more on the way. Ben is also survived by his sister, Jane Marsella Keenan and husband Jay (Sullivan’s Island, SC), Bob Bristow (Darlington, SC), and several nieces and nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Jo “Joby” Marsella Bristow (Darlington, SC). A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Georgia. Flowers are welcomed at the service or donations may be made in Ben’s honor to Hospice of the Foothills, CaringBridge, or Clemson University.

Family and friends who would like to attend the service are encouraged to wear something orange or purple in honor of Ben’s love for the Clemson Tigers.
