VERONA — Charles Bruce “Chuck” Thornley, age 95, of Verona, died on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at Badger Prairie Health Care Center. He was born to Cecil Shuck and Mary Dorsey on Sept.

16, 1923, in New Albany, Ind. , and was adopted by his mother’s second husband, Clarence Thornley. Chuck attended Purdue University, where he excelled at track and was a Delta Upsilon brother, before joining the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He and Arlene Ann McHale married on June 3, 1944, in Jacksonville, Fla.
