On Friday, February 1, 2019, Charles C. Wallace passed in peace at the age of 76 in his home in Huntsville, Alabama. Charles was born January 14, 1943, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the ninth child of ten for Clara and W.J.H. Wallace. Charles graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1961 and attended college at the University of Chattanooga, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and the University of Tennessee.

Over a forty five year career as a draftsman and checker, Charles worked in Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tennessee and in Huntsville, Alabama for Combustion Engineering, Spaco, Northrop Services, Wyle Laboratories, the Tennessee Valley Authority, Teledyne Brown Engineering, Morgan Research, and Diversified Technologies. He reviewed drawings for numerous U.S. Army projects as well as NASA Apollo and Space Shuttle missions. He holds a patent for a key operated firearms safety lock device, and for a railroad accident prevention vehicle.

After the Space Shuttle Challenger accident, he was on the team which designed and holds a patent for a laser based measuring tool for the Orings. Charles married Katherine Lieb in 1963. Charles and Kathy were married 54 years and had four daughters.

Charles is survived by his daughters: Rebecca Elizabeth Wallace of Phoenix, Arizona; Deborah Elaine Davis of Knoxville, Tennessee; Mary Katherine Moore of Marietta, Georgia; and Jane Ellen Wallace of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; their spouses Charles Michael Davis and William Giles Moore; his five grandchildren: Charles Coleman Davis, Michael Andrew Davis, Ava Elaine Davis, Samuel Allen Moore, and Erin Patricia Moore; his brother Robert Bruce Wallace of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and his sister Mary Elizabeth Erwin of Glasgow, Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. A service will be held at noon on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Shop Springs Baptist Church in Wilson County, Tennessee, followed by a graveside prayer at the Bryan Family Cemetery in Shop Springs. A visitation at Partlow Funeral Chapel in Lebanon, Tennessee, precedes the service.
