Obituary for Charles “Charlie” A Muhr Charles “Charlie” A. Muhr, 78 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at Heritage Estates. His memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Gering United Methodist Church with Pastor Seth Leypoldt officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Chalk Creek Cemetery, Banner County, Nebraska.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel. Memorials have been established to the Gering United Methodist Church or Regional West Hospice. Charles was born October 14, 1939 in Bridgeport, Nebraska to John O. and Ruth (Adair) Muhr.

He received his early education at District #8 in Banner County and graduated from Gering High School in 1958. As a youth, he was active in Scouts and 4-H. In high school, he loved football and track and held several records which stood for many years.

He married Barbara Flohr in 1958 at the Gering United Methodist Church and made their home in Banner County and most of their life in Gering. He worked for Pacific Fruits and Produce, Cawleys Potato Chips and several feed companies. He purchased his own feed company- Western Feeds in 1981.

Due to health issues, he sold his business to Panhandle Coop, where he worked for 3 years before retiring. He loved his ranch in Banner County and was a great steward of the land until 2015 when it was sold. Charles was a member of the Gering United Methodist Church, Elks, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, NRA, past President of Gering Jaycees and past member of Scotts Bluff County Rodeo Committee.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Charlie was a Husker fan, enjoying football and volleyball. Charlie is survived by his wife Barbara; daughters and sons-in-law Kim (Jeff) Becker of Scottsbluff and Linda (Tom) Lawrence of Fountain Hills, AZ; grandchildren Chris Becker of Scottsbluff, NE, Josh (Nicole) Becker of Laramie, Wyoming and Emelia Lawrence of Flagstaff, AZ; brother Darrell (Beth) Muhr of Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Charles John and two brothers Wes Muhr and Lee Muhr.
