Obituary for Charles “Charlie” Henry Gladden, Jr. Print Charles “Charlie” Henry Gladden, Jr. of Dermott, AR, died January 30, 2019, in Monroe, LA at the age of 92. Charlie was born on October 6, 1926 in Sunflower, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents: Charles Henry Gladden, Sr. and Claudia Thurman Gladden; 3 brothers: D.C., Delton, and Thurman; and 4 sisters: Charlene, Kathryn, Thelma Joyce, and Willie Merle.

He is survived by his wife, Della Jane Gladden; his sons: Royce (Gloria) and Chuck (Kathy); grandsons: Nathan (Tara), John (Julie), and Drew; granddaughters: Jennifer (Devin) and Amanda (Brandon); 5 great-grandchildren. Charlie was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He married Della Jane in 1952 after returning home.

He went to work for Reliable Life Insurance in 1964 and retired in 1987. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, especially turkey and squirrels, and fishing. He loved football and played at College of the Ozarks and was quarterback for his high school team.

Charlie loved the Lord and was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church in Dermott. He led the singing for 54 years with his wife accompanying on the piano. He held several positions in the church including Deacon and Music Minister as well as other capacities.

Visitation will be held 6-8pm Friday, February 1, 2019 at Temple Baptist Church in Dermott, AR. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the church with Rev. Chuck Gladden, Rev.
