Charles Chester Estes of Irving, Texas March 17, 1935 – May 13, 2019 Charles Chester Estes passed away at the age of 84 on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Sagecrest Long term Acute Care Hospital in Grapevine. He suffered a stroke in February, 2018, and recently developed pneumonia, which finally proved to be too much to overcome in his weakened condition. His sister, Betty Williams, his granddaughter, Ashley Arenas, and his niece Christy Hauser were at his bedside when he passed.

He was born March 17, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to Chester Arthur and Marie Dennis Estes. Charles is survived by his son, Mark A. Estes, his sister Betty Marie Williams, grandchildren Mindy Estes, Ashley Estes Arenas, Tiffinee Nicole Williams, and Michael Wright. Also surviving are 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Sandra Gaye Estes, and infant twins Larry and Gary Estes, and brother Don Ray Estes. Charles loved life, enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, and playing slots at WindStar. He also traveled quite often.

Charles owned Jan’s Estes Grocery on Valwood Parkway in Farmers Branch for many years. He most recently was employed by Apple Personnel in Irving. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 12:30 to 1:30 at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Fwy. , Irving, TX 75062. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Blvd.
