Obituary for Charles DeCrane Charles E. DeCrane, 81, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, Illinois. A memorial mass will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley, with Fr. Anthony Ego officiating.

Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline, with private burial at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Atkinson, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, is assisting the family.

Charles Edward DeCrane was born September 18, 1936, in Atkinson, the son of August and Catherine (Lievens) DeCrane. He married Charmaine Adams on June 25, 1960, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, Illinois. He was a plant mechanic for Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric, and then MidAmerican Energy Company, retiring in 1995 after 39 years for the company.

He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and trains. He loved spending time with his family and take day-trips with his wife (especially back home to Atkinson and Geneseo). Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Charmaine; a daughter and son-in-law, Katheryn and Byron Otto of Blue Grass, Iowa; and a son, Jonathan DeCrane of Coal Valley.
