Schell October 04, 1918 – December 18, 2018 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Charles “Charlie” Elmer Schell, 100, went peacefully to be with His Lord and Savior from his home in Hershey on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Born October 4, 1918 in Lewisburg, Union County, PA to Joseph Wagner and Ella Mae (Reedy) Schell, he moved to Hershey as a child when his father was asked by Milton S. Hershey to come and run one of his dairy farms. He graduated from Hershey High School as Class president in 1939, and was immediately employed by Hershey Chocolate Corp.

working his way up until his retirement in April 1983 as Supervisor of the candy coating department. He served during WWII in the Army Air Corp as a medic stationed at Ft. George Wright, Spokane, WA, where he also had the opportunity to play baseball.

He was married to Nancy Wenger Schell for 67 years in June. He is survived by 4 children: Connie (Ralph) Owens, Rev. Jeffrey (Nancy) Schell, Jody (Wayne) Scott, and Andrew (Monica) Schell, 11 grandchildren -Jeremy (Shannon), Trevor (Cathryn), Nathan (Lindsay) and Amber Owens; Jeffrey (Julie) Schell II, Katrina (Jensen) Lucas, Colin Scott, Morgan (Craig) Espenshade, Kayle Scott, Alicia (Michael) Ferrari and Alexandra Schell, 5 great granddaughters- Lorelei, Annabelle, Harper, Skylar and Tenley Owens, a brother-in-law – Wilmer Wenger and many treasured nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife in July and a grandson, Kyler Owens, his siblings and their spouses – Ralph (June) Schell, Grace (Harold) Hamilton, Helen (Ward) Powell, Alice (Hayes) Reilly and many loved nieces and nephews. He was active in his church, Palmyra First E.C. as a Sunday School teacher, Youth leader and Steward. He helped coach Hershey community sports and was president of the HHS Basketball Booster Club.

He enjoyed playing baseball and golf. He was privileged to travel to Hawaii, Germany to see the Passion Play, and Scotland to play golf at St. Andrews, and Royal Troon. Visitation 6-7:30pm Friday Dec.

21 at Hoover Funeral Home and Crematory in Hershey and Sat. Dec 22 at Palmyra Fist E.C. Church 9:30 -10:30am, service to follow. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Palmyra First EC Church, 55 W. Main St., Palmyra, PA 17078 or Evangelical Seminary, 121 S. College St., Myerstown, PA 17067.
