On Thursday, April 18, 2019, Charles Ellis Mitchem, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 79. Charles was born on June 4, 1939 in Big Four, WV to Charles Buster Mitchem and Virgie Mitchem. He was a proud Airforce Vietnam Veteran and a very hardworking man.

His last job employment was at Celanese in Pearisburg, VA. On March 10, 1989 he married the love of his life, Deborah Jean Carter of Princeton, WV and became step father to Samantha Jean Buchanan. He is also father to Martha Tonia Mitchem and the late Charles Mitchem Jr

He has two grandchildren Jocelyn Skye Russell and Jayce Carter Christian. He is survived by his brother William Mitchem and sister Barbara Mitchem Sparks. He was a very loved man that never met a stranger and would do absolutely anything for anyone.

He loved NASCAR racing, fishing, Clemson Tigers, and WVU Mountaineers. He loved WV but after moving to Green Sea, SC he then considered SC home. He will be forever missed by all of his family and friends and also his small support dog, Kia.

A small memorial service with honor guard will be on May 11, 2019, 2:00 pm at Harvest Baptist Church on Rt. 9 in Green Sea, SC 29545. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Charles Ellis Mitchem please visit our Sympathy Store.
