Charles Garnett Cox, 88, of Bristol, VA went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Ballad Hospice House. He was born in Bristol, VA on March 16, 1931, a son of the late Bige Jerome and Mary Stewart Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Sue, Lillian, and Mary Evelyn.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had served in the Korean War. He was a deacon with Mountain View Ministries in Bristol, TN and a Mason. Charles had worked at Burlington Mills for over 25 years and also worked at Facet Fuel Systems for several years as a machinist.

His many interests included music, singing, and dancing. He liked to work around the house, have breakfast with friends at McDonalds, and play bingo at Hardee’s. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Clara Cox; son, Steve Cox and wife Karen of Waynesboro, VA; two grandchildren, Ashley Downs and husband Ken of Bristol, VA and Colby Cox of Jacksonville, NC; great granddaughter, Graceyn Phillips; five brothers, Gerald Cox and wife Millie, Sam Cox and wife Joyce, Wayne Cox and wife Pat, Robert Cox and wife Katie, and B.J. Cox and wife Debbie; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thank you to everyone that helped take care of Mom and Dad over the last several months. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bobby Branch officiating.

The committal service and interment will follow at Highpoint Cemetery, Bristol, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be the McDonalds Gang.

Military honors will be provided by United States Air Force Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Mountain View Ministries, 127 Old Jonesboro Rd. , Bristol, TN 37620.
