Massey, Charles J., of Bonne Terre, Missouri was born November 6, 1944, in Leonardtown, Maryland, to Lemuel and Wilma (nee Martins) Massey and entered into rest, Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the age of 74 years, 5 months, and 26 days. He is preceded in death by, his parents. He is survived by, three (3) daughters, Amy (Kenneth) Myers of Murphy, Texas, Michele (Steven) Reeder of Joplin, Missouri and Meg (Jon) Daniels of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, three (3) grandchildren, Benjamin Myers, Josephine Myers and Dylan Reeder, two (2) siblings, Carolyn Pirkle of Kirkwood, Missouri and Richard Massey of Saint Louis, Missouri, several nieces and nephews, and other family and many friends.

Charles was a generous man who has been known to give the shirt off of his back. He served his country as a Navy man in the Vietnam War on the USS Oriskany. He was a hard worker that taught his daughters to do the same.

He was a loving father that showed by example how to respect others. Charles had a wonderful sense of humor and a unique laugh that was loud and boisterous. He made it his mission to remember everyone’s name and did so successfully.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He had a passion for old cars and restoration shows. Charles loved his dogs and looked forward to the day he would see Buster, his childhood dog again.

He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation Monday, May 6, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY, 6776 Vo-Tech Road, Bonne Terre, Missouri. Service Monday, May 6, 2019 11:00 a.m. at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY.

Interment at St. Francois Memorial Park. Reception will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 309 Taylor Avenue, Park Hills, Missouri 63601. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1972 Innerbelt Business Center, St. Louis, MO 63114 or The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, PO Box 790369, St. Louis, MO 63179-9917.
