Ronek, 72, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at Mercy One Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Friends and relatives of Charles may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where a Prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2019 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa with Rev.

Ralph Davis presiding. Burial will be held in Holy Family Cemetery in Peosta, Iowa with full military honors afforded by the Cascade American Legion Post #528. He was born March 27, 1946 in Cascade, Iowa, son of James and Loretta (Johnson) Ronek.

He attended Oak Grove school House #6 in rural Bernard, Iowa. He was a Marine Corp. veteran.

On January 12, 1991 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Sheber in Guttenberg, Iowa. He was employed for over 38 years in the maintenance department of Georgia Pacific in Dubuque. Farming was his passion, he farmed in the Bernard, Holy Cross and Buena Vista areas.

He loved to read western novels and was a Louie L’amour fan, he was a coin collector and always enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ronek of Dyersville, IA; a son, Brian Lemm of Jersey City, New Jersey; a daughter-in-law, Christine Lemm of New York and Christine and Joe’s children, Ryan and Brooke; his 3 step-children, Joe Sheber of Dyersville, IA and his children, Eddie & Kaylee; Jamie (Renae) Sheber of New Hampton, IA and their children, Sheree, Krisha, Katrina and Ty; and Michelle Sheber of Farley, IA and her son, Spencer; his siblings, Leonard (Holly) Ronek of Brooklyn, WI, Agnes Gregorich of Dubuque, IA, Margaret (Steve) Willenbring of Dyersville, IA, Grace (Dan) Pfeiler of Eldridge, IA, Joyce (Dave) Link of Springtown, TX, David (Diane) Ronek of Cascade, IA, Terri (John) Coffey of Peosta, IA, Linda (Joe) Pfeiler of Delano, MN and Leona (Dean) Lehman of Epworth, IA.
