Charles Jackson “Jack” Powers, 86, of Ashland, went to be with his Lord, with his family by his side, Sunday morning, April 15, 2018. Jack was born April 2, 1932 in Ashland, Ky to the late Charles F. And Ethel Wheeler Powers. In addition to his parents, jack was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Vincent, Clifford, and woody powers, and a sister, Jenny Riffe.

He was an usher and faithful member of Unity Baptist church until his health prevented him from attending. He was a dedicated Ashland Tomcat fan and served on “the chain gang” for 45 years, having never missed a home ballgame.

He also loved the Kentucky Wildcats. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Donna Maggard Powers of Ashland, two daughters Vanessa McKenzie (John) of Richmond, VA and Allison Pierce (Brian) of Ashland; six grandchildren, Stephanie Layton (Jeff), Brooke Christian (Cody), Joey Pierce (Kathryn McGuire), Dakota McKenzie, and Haley Pierce and Madison Davis; 4 great grandchildren, Trey and Tanner Christian and Shannon and Desmond Layton; two sisters, Joyce Rayburn of Ashland and Joann Reed of Florida; two brothers, Herman powers of Lexington and David (Sheryl) powers of Florida; a special sister-in-law, Brenda Lewis of Ashland; a special niece and nephew, Angie Lewis and Ron Davis, along with a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 1 pm at Unity Baptist Church by Rev.

Jeremy Couture. Entombment will follow in Rose hill Burial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 at Caniff funeral home and after 12 Wednesday at the church.

Military services will be conducted by Kenova American legion post 93. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack’s memory may be made to Diana Ferrell missionary fund c/o Unity Baptist church, 2320 29th street, Ashland, KY 41102 OR community hospice, 1480 Carter avenue, Ashland, Ky 41101.
