Charles L. Springer, 73, died Saturday evening, February 9, 2019 at his home in Hunker, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born December 8, 1945 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Joseph Curtis and Anna Jack Goswick Springer.

Charlie was a Graduate of Hempfield Area High School Class of 1964. Charlie was a proud Veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Vietnam as a 11B20 Light Weapons’ Infantryman. He was assigned to Company C 52nd Infantry, 716th MP Battalion.

He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device 60, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and Good Conduct Medal 1st Award and attained the Rank of Spec 4. His memberships included, Hempfield Hunt Club, Hecla Sportsmans Club, Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post 446 and the Veterans Group of White Oak.

Charlie was a self employed contractor, remodeling and building homes for over a period of 30 years. In his spare time, Charlie loved to watch his grandchildren play sports, riding his Harley, spending time at his camp in Bedford where he liked to hunt, fish and socialize with family and friends. Charlie will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Lois A. Humphrey Springer of Hunker, whom he married January 20, 1968; his three loving Children: Annette Springer of Prairieville, LA.

Eric Springer and his wife Bobbi of Greensburg Jay Springer and his wife Bonni of Hunker and his six grandchildren whom he adored: Madison, Tristen, Bailey, Laney, Lowen and Tyten Springer Charlie had 11 Brothers and Sisters, including Dick, Carl, Betty (Sis), Elaine, Donald, Grace, Earl, Ed Henry, Clarence and Betty (Bets). And a Number of Nieces and Nephews He will be missed by his Vietnam Veteran Band of Brothers of over 50 years, who remained in contact with each other after coming home. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by: his granddaughter: Annen Jay Springer (March 17, 2014) his mother-in-law: Anna Humphrey Bero (Sept.

1, 2014) Charlie’s Family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 2 – 4PM & 6 – 8PM. His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 11 AM Thursday, February 14, 2019 with Pastor Aaron Wiley, of Charter Oaks Church, Mt. Pleasant & Scottdale Campus.

Committal Service and Interment will follow in Middle Churches Presbyterian Cemetery, 3374 PA-981, Mt. Pleasant. Military Honors will be held at the Funeral Home, Wednesday at 6:30PM, by the Mt.

Pleasant American Legion Post # 446 Honor Guard. In lieu of Flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in Charlie’s name to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. One Children’s Hospital Drive Central Plant, Floor 3.
