Newark – Charles (Sonny) M. Smith, II, age 66, passed away on November 15, 2018 in Newark, DE. Sonny was born in Chicopee, MA to Edward and Daisy Smith on June 4, 1952. He attended Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, DE and continued schooling to achieve his Associates degree at Temple University and his Bachelor’s degree at Southern Illinois University.

He worked as a Computer Analyst for DuPont for many years and the State of DE. Sonny was a Master Freemason and had a deep passion for the Boy Scouts of America. Sonny is survived by his wife, Chris Clinton Smith, son Matthew (Terrie) Smith, daughter Jodi Smith, sisters Edna DiRico, Tina Norgren, Debbie Anselmo, and Linda Trask, brothers Jay Smith, Artie Smith, and Jimmy Smith and grandchildren Clinton, Mila, Naomi, and Samuel Smith.

There will be a private memorial service in December, date unknown at this time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Salvation Army, as he rang the bell every Christmas for many years.
