Obituary for Charles McKinnon “Charlie” Ledbetter Farmville………………………………Charles McKinnon “Charlie” Ledbetter, age 90 died Friday, January 4, 2019. Charlie was born October 30, 1928 in Mt. Gilead, NC, to the late Henry Armstrong Ledbetter and Ella Parker Ledbetter.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Parker Ledbetter. He was an Eagle Scout in Troop 80 and he served in the U.S. Army for two years. The he returned to UNC, graduating in 1954.

Charlie was employed in the textile industry, settled in Farmville, NC, in the 1970’s and established fountain Apparel, a woman’s clothing manufacturing company. He was CEO of this company for over 30 years. He was well-respected in the textile industry and served as President of the American Apparel Contractors Association.

Charlie was an active member of the Farmville Kiwanis Club, enjoyed countless rounds of golf at Farmville Country Club and served both as its President and Board Member. He was a devoted Carolina fan and enjoyed watching numerous football and basketball games. Charlie was a lifetime Presbyterian and served in several capacities within the church.

He loved his church and his church family, and they have been his of strength and comfort for him and his family during his illness. He is survived by his wife, Caroline Bowman Ledbetter of the home; his sons, Charles and Parker (Natalie), his step-children, Wes Craft and Julie Caviness of Raleigh, and six grandchildren, Parker McKinnon and Sophie Ledbetter, Louise Craft, John, Sam, and Ella Caviness. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his two sons, Joanne Hauser Chadwick.

Special thanks go to Doug Barrow, M.D. his doctor, neighbor and friend and to his caregiver Doris W. Baker, who has spent many hours helping Charlie and to Thomas Phillips for their loving service to Charlie. The memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 8, at 3:00 P.M. at the Farmville Presbyterian Church by Rev. Rocky Stone and Rev.

Cheryl Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the family life center. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Farmville Presbyterian Church, 4138 Grimmersburg Street, Farmville, NC 27828 or 3HC Hospice.
