Obituary for Charles Murphy Fife Jr. FIFE, Jr., Charles Murphy Charlie was born February 9, 1933 in Decatur, GA and passed October 10, 2018. His father was Charles Murphy Fife, Sr. and mother was Sara Evelyn (Sneed) Fife. Charlie was survived by his wife Donna Gayle McHaffie Fife, his daughter, Debi Fife and son, Chip Fife.

Charlie had four grandchildren, Carly Bandy (23), Georgia Fife (18), Sara Gayle Fife (16), and Charlie Fife IV (12). Charlie grew up in a modest household in Decatur and moved to multiple cities during his childhood and before graduating from Tulane University. As an adult living in Marietta, GA he became very involved in Northside Baptist Church.

During these years, Charlie worked hard to increase attendance with the local neighborhood kids so he bought a used school bus. Charlie drove it with his two children to pick up kids in low income neighborhoods and drove them to Sunday school and then return them back home after church. In 1978, Charlie moved to Ellijay, GA to start a land development call Beaver Lake Estates, later renamed Coosawattee River Resorts.

While in Ellijay, Charlie developed approximately 10,000 acres of property which included The White Path Golf Course and Country Club. Charlie was very involved in First Baptist Church and later Grace Baptist Church. He was instrumental in establishing the land for the Gilmer Christian Learning Center, which is a Christian based facility used by the local high school in Ellijay.

Charlie continued to be very involved with this organization both emotionally and financially until the very end of his life. In 1985, Charlie purchased a home in West Palm Beach, FL where he retired, as well as Knoxville, TN while in his late 50’s. Charlie immediately got involved in the local churches and was an avid blue water fisherman for many years.

When Charlie ran out of people to fish with, he sold the boat and joined Bear Lakes Golf Club where he spent the rest of his life making lifelong friends. Charlie was dearly loved by his entire family and was an extremely generous person to many. His generosity was beyond comprehension.

We know that Charlie Fife has a great place in heaven. Charlie’s Celebration of Life will be Monday, October 15, 2018 at 1:00PM. The location is: Family Church Village (P/K/A Village Baptist), 3600 Village Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gilmer Christian Learning Center (gilmerclc.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (st.
