OBITUARY Charles Nathan Huntley August 31, 1942 – September 9, 2018 Charles Nathan Huntley of East Sandwich, Mass. , passed away on Sunday September 9, 2018. Born in New York City on August 31, 1942, Charley attended Bronxville schools and earned his MBA at Pace University after serving in the Peace Corps in Nepal.

He worked at PanAm, PepsiCo, Great Northern Nekoosa, and Cadbury Schweppes, where he retired as the VP of Corporate Taxation. He was an avid photographer throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Penny, his daughters Susan Smith (Todd), Elizabeth Seidman (Charles), and Christiane Maiorana (Kieran), along with his two grandchildren, sister, niece and nephew.

Charley was a devoted husband and father who loved books, birds, nature, golfing, jazz, photography, Christmas movies and comedies. He will be remembered always with fun references to Pleasant Bay, building dollhouses, 15-foot Christmas trees, sarcasm, his love of all shellfish and ice cream, Caddyshack, Yogi Berra, unpacking his kids on college move-in days, home improvements, Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis, Christmas Vacation, the Honeymooners, making popovers to be slathered in butter, pulling over on the side of the road to set up his tripod, and so much more. He was proud of his family, time volunteering in the Peace Corps, the course he took with Ansel Adams and time spent in his darkroom or behind the camera, his extensive book collection, and his English Christmas dinners complete with Yorkshire pudding.

Charley vacationed on the Cape for 41 years before realizing his dream of retiring here. He was an avid birdwatcher who loved kayaking and hiking the Cape. If you see an osprey over Monomoy or the Cape Cod Canal, it’s probably Charley flaunting his newfound freedom.

Services will be private. Donations can be made in his name to Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, www. ccmnh.org, 869 Main Street, Brewster, MA 02631.
