Charles “Chuck” Nuttle died peacefully at his home in Morristown NJ on Friday, January 11, 2019. He was born in Morristown at the family home on Western Avenue on December 23, 1913. He was the only child of Charles and Eva Nuttle.

Mr. Nuttle was a 1931 graduate of Morristown High School and a 1935 graduate of Swarthmore College. He served in WWII in the Army as a Captain and was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina after training. He was an avid tennis player playing through college… and until he was in his late 60s.

His love of golf began when he was young and he continued to play at Springbrook Country Club until he was 85. Many times he played 3-4 times a week. He did make a hole in one one time!

He was the oldest living member of Springbrook County Club having joined in 1940. When asked a few years ago what his most memorable headlines were in his life, he said, without hesitation, “the Lindbergh kidnapping and flight over the Atlantic”. Mr. Nuttle was a life-long fan of the NY Yankees having held season tickets for years and seeing all the greats, including Babe Ruth play.

His highlight of the Yankees was on July 9, 2009 when he was able to attend a Yankees home game where Derek Jeter hit home run number 3000. In 2001 Mr. Nuttle married the love of his life, Charlotte Wilson Nuttle whom he had dated when they were in their 20s. They met again by accident at Old Souls Hospital when both were visiting their mothers, rekindled their friendship and were married on Valentine’s Day when they were in their 60s.

He would want to thank Rod’s Steakhouse for all the wonderful memories spent there with his wife, Charlotte. Charles was a patron for at least 50 years. His last time there was when he turned 100.

Mr. Nuttle is survived by his long time dedicated and loving caregivers, Alfenia Thompson and Jeff Graham. He is also survived by his friend Penny Ohrman Bernstein of Charleston SC. He will be more than missed by all three.

Funeral arrangements are through Doyle Funeral Home. Burial to be announced.
