Obituary for Charles Railey Vaught Charles Railey Vaught, 59, passed away December 28, 2018 after suffering multiple strokes. He was a New Year’s baby the first to be born in 1959, 6 minutes after midnight. He is preceded in death by his father Tom Junior Vaught.
Charlie is survived by his daughters Leslie Hock and Emma Vaught, grandson Lucas Hock, mother Daphene Vaught, sister Carol Dodd, and nieces Jessie Hernandez and Elizabeth Thorpe. Charlie started his career in the Beverage Service industry working for Pepsi Co. After leaving Pepsi he ventured out as a business owner operating C&R Beverage. After closing his company, he accepted a position with E-Z Mart before taking ill.
Charlie joined the ranks of local government by serving on the Forney City Council and was later appointed as Mayor Pro Tem. He later campaigned and was elected as Mayor and served in that capacity from May of 1995 through May of 1999. As a member of the Lions Club in Forney he participated in several of their charitable events.
He often enjoyed fishing and took an occasional duck hunting trip with his father. He learned many farming techniques while helping his parents tend to their garden and cattle on their property in Kaufman. The old western dramas were favorites and his preference of music was that of Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King and AC/DC.
He perfected his DIY skills with the help of friends and completed many successful remodeling projects. There will be a visitation held at Gateway Funerals and Cremation on Friday January 4th, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. See below for further details.
