Obituary of Charles L. Jenkins Charles Lester Jenkins was born June, 4th, 1940 in Lockport, NY and lived most of his life in Lockport. He graduated from DeSales High School in 1958. Charles passed away surrounded by loving family in Lockport on March 11th, 2019.

Charles served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965 where he toured much of the country and spent much time in Alaska. He worked at General Motors Harrison Radiator Division in Lockport where he retired in 1992. In retirement, Charles was an avid golfer posting 166 rounds of golf in 1995, the most of any of the 50 clubs that subscribe to the Buffalo District Golf Association handicapping service at the time.

Charles continued to play and enjoy the game of golf throughout his life, where he always felt great as long as he could play the game. Charles was predeceased by his loving wife Josephine (Fisher), together they raised 5 children, David Cooney, Charles Jenkins Jr., Heidi U’Ren, Mark Jenkins and Joseph Jenkins in Lockport. Charles is also survived by his sister Melba Carrington,.

Charles was lovingly known as Grampy or Grampa Charlie to 13 grandchildren including Davey Cooney, Joshua Cooney, Andrea Cooney, Lexus Cooney, Amber (Colbert) Grant, James U’Ren Jr, Deaira Jenkins, Marky Jenkins Jr, Emily Jenkins, Katie Jenkins, Joey Jenkins, Erin Jenkins, Gina Jenkins and 4 great grandchildren. A wake service will be planned at Friday March 15th, 4-8PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
