OBITUARY Charlotte Gould January 20, 1931 – October 22, 2018 GOULD Charlotte Gould (nee Zychick) beloved wife of Lawrence I. Gould for almost 66 years. Cherished mother of Tammy (Alan Silverman) Gould, Marc Gould, and the late Lisa (Robert Paine-deceased) Gilad and Brian J. Gould. Precious grandmother of Jessica Paine, Abby (Jamie) Stadlin, Marcus (Esther) Silverman and Sarah (David Rozen-fiance) Silverman.

Affectionate great grandmother of Mollie, Arthur, Charles and Nathan. Charlotte had a special relationship with her former son-in-law Howard Amster and nephew Joel (Claire) Zychick, Lois (John Heiam) Goldstein, Phillip (Judi) Goldstein and Marvin (Brooke) Zychick. Cherished daughter of the late Sarah and Julius Zychick.

Charlotte leaves many friends, family, and other loved ones who will miss her sense of humor because she always told a good joke and could laugh at herself and with others. She was known as an official Shabbat cake baker. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and reading.

Her most special gift to the world was her art. Charlotte was a professional artist who attended the Cleveland Institute of Art as a child. She graduated high school at age 16 and then attended the University of Miami.

At age 21 she received a master’s degree in Fine Arts from Oberlin College. Over the years she painted in oils and acrylics. She spent time learning the physics of making art glass, utilizing a kiln that ran hot for several years in her studio.

She painted numerous portraits of five generations of family members, some from their images in old photographs. She devoted much of her creativity to a rare medium: painting on opaque glass, using special ink and a scalpel to etch in texture. Her most recent project has been large, colored pencil drawings of letters of the Hebrew alphabet, utilizing wonderfully inspirational passages from Biblical texts, prayers and blessings.

She finished 14 of the 22 letters. Her work can be found in many homes in Cleveland and around the world, as well as in several synagogues. Charlotte Gould will be missed by all who knew her; she lives on through we many who love her.
