Obituary for Charlotte S. Schlichtmann Charlotte Schlichtmann, a former mathematics teacher in Northport, New York, died on September 22 at her home in Media, Pennsylvania. She was 90 years old. She was born in New York City, and grew up in Emerson, N.J.

She was a graduate of Westwood High School. Encouraged by a family who had high expectations and a belief in education, she earned an A.B. from Montclair State Teachers College in 1949, and a M.A. in Geography from Northwestern University in 1950. She joined the faculty of Northport Junior High School in 1967 and touched the lives of Northport students for twenty-five years.

Prior to her teaching career, she was active in civic affairs and was an officer for the League of Women Voters of Huntington. After retirement, she and her husband spent winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and summers in Northport. She was a prolific, award-winning quilter, and an active member of the Smithtown Stitchers on Long Island and the Pelican Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Florida.

She joyously shared her beautiful creations with family and friends. She is survived by Frederick Schlichtmann, her husband of 67 years; her brother Alan Stubing; children Paul (Rieko Tanaka) and Carol (David Bellamy); grandchildren Emma Bellamy and Meredith Bellamy Thorson (Brian Thorson); and great-grandchildren, Elsie and Olivia. The family plans a celebration of her life in January.
