Obituary for Christa Graham Christa E. Graham April 16, 1933 – September 13, 2018 Christa Graham passed away peacefully following treatment for a recent pulmonary illness. She was born in Schweidnitz, Germany (now Swidnica, Poland), the eldest of three daughters. Her family resided there until the later part of WWII, when they became displaced persons crisscrossing parts of Eastern Europe fleeing the oncoming Soviet Army.

Fortunately, they found refuge on a Bavarian farm prior to the war’s end in an area later liberated by US forces. Her family re-settled near Hanover, Germany. Christa moved on to Frankfurt where she attended cooking school and did secretarial work.

It was here on a “blind date” arranged by her best friend that she met her future husband Sgt. James L. Graham, whom she married in 1956. Following several re-locations, Jim retired from the military and moved Christa and their two children to Colorado Springs, even though they had never visited there before.

It became Jim and Christa’s permanent home. Many summer days were spent in the mountains camping and fishing, while wintertime was filled with Bronco-mania. Sadly, on September 20, 1996 Jim passed away.

Christa remained in their house, living there for 50 years, raising a succession of pet dogs and caring for many local animals, both wild and domestic. She was a friend of the neighborhood, famous for sharing her delightful homemade cookies and cakes for all to enjoy. Christa is survived by her 2 children, son Hank Graham (wife Loretta) and Patty Westfall (husband Tom).

She was “Omi” to four granddaughters Heidi, Julia, Libby and Tanya. Christa remained close to her sisters Edith and Gaby, as well as other family members in Germany. Christa will be missed by all her family and friends, especially during each holiday season.
