Christine Heide Mitchell, 54. Heaven gained a spunky, smart, talented and kind soul on January 12, 2019. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and close friends.

Christine was born on December 12, 1964 to David and Betty Heide. Along with her sister Denise, Christine grew up in Pope Valley, attended local schools, and graduated from Justin Sienna High School. She was active in high school rodeo and 4-H.

Christine met and married the love of her life, John Mitchell, and together they raised two amazing children on their ranch in Capell Valley. Chris blessed us with the gifts she shared, most especially her children, Devery and Tyler, who carry her very best traits. The pride she shared in her children’s accomplishments could not be measured.

Christine was known as “Momma Mitchell” to countless kids whose lives she touched, including those from 4-H, high school rodeo, Mt. George Elementary, and her children’s friends. Chris will always be remembered for her kindness, homemade quilts, hugs, and bread and butter pickles, as well as her sarcasm and quick wit.

Her creativity and attention to detail were evident in everything she touched. She so beautifully captured countless photos of kids and pigs, babies in bows, and family memories worth more than gold. She could organize a game and make a pot of ranch beans while simultaneously chasing her chickens and throwing a party.

She was as comfortable in Mamama’s fur and heels as she was in jeans and tennies. She was the life of the party, the first on the dance floor and the last one to leave, cleaning up as she went. Christine will be missed most especially by her husband and children, her parents Betty and Dave Heide, and her sister Denise and Ed Boydston.

Chris’s memory will be cherished by her nieces and nephews, her in-laws Marilyn and John Hannum and Patty and Tom Mitchell, John’s sister Kass and Eric Von der Mehden, and all of her neighbors and friends whom she considered extended family. A private family service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 8, at Tulocay Cemetery. A celebration of Christine’s life will begin at noon on Saturday, February 9, at the Napa Fairgrounds in the Chardonnay Hall, located at 575 3rd St., Napa.

All are welcome. Please share your favorite memories of Christine with others, keeping her memory alive. She will be forever missed.
