Obituary for Christopher Leo “Chopper” Olliges Christopher Leo “Chopper” Olliges Louisville- 58, passed away early November 30, 2018 attempting to thwart a local bank robbery involving 10 escaped felons. Or maybe not. He was actually chasing a steaming locomotive full of nuns, heading straight for a collapsed bridge!

To tell you all the truth, we’re still unsure. As you all may know, Chris Leo was a fan of tall tales, and always loved to keep us guessing. We do know for sure that he was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.

And we’re absolutely certain that he could tell you more about “the brig” and its resident ghosts than any other seaman of his time. His ship was the U.S.S Kitty Hawk, and don’t you dare call it a boat! He was a true renaissance man, and could complete any task asked of him.

You know, if he wanted to. He was a card holding member of the NRA, and proud member of the Teamsters 89. He built things from the ground up, but enjoyed tearing the place down even more.

He was kind hearted, and too friendly for his own good. If anyone has heard the story about the hitch-hiking murderer, you know what I mean. If you’d ask him, the first thing he got right in his life was marrying his wife, Anita Schindler.

Unfortunately for all of us, she was freed from her mortal restraints in 2014. Unfortunately for Chopper, that means I’m in charge of his obituary. I’m sure our mom, and his father, Anthony Olliges, were the first in line to welcome him home or wring his neck a time or two.

When he wasn’t complaining about work, he could be found complaining about anything else. He loved his family, his friends, but more importantly his Harley and Cardinal red mustang. He asked me to remind his mother that the videos of him traveling 145 mph on the Gene Snyder were photoshopped.

Chopper loved to go fast, so we really expected nothing more from him. He was caring beyond his years, but could also yell more profanities a minute than anyone I’ve ever heard. He is survived by his 3 children, Steve Olliges, Marcie Mae Hall (Josh), Weezy Mae (his favorite daughter and newly appointed “service”dog); his mother, Marcella Olliges; sisters Sharon, Aimee, Fran, brother Greg (Kristy), 5 grandchildren, Solomon, Ayden, Meredith, Ruby, and Leon; as well as a scheisse ton of cousins, nieces and nephews; die hard friends and coworkers, and some who only met him once, but remembered him forever.

Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 7335 Southside Drive, Tuesday 10 a.m. with inurnment to follow at St. Andrews Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Drive, Monday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. On behalf of Chopper, the family would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors at Norton Hospital for their continuous effort and compassionate care.
